The best place in the South (after Florida). A city that hasn't bulldozed or tried to hide its history, and has a lot of diffrent cultural events. Many great neighborhoods such as Downtown, Uptown, Southend, Overton Square, and Cooper Young. Sadly, the city has a bad reputation with some Memphians and Tennesseans because its 60% African American and some people are afraid. So instead of checking out this great city for themselves, they spend their time on the internet bashing the city. NORMAL crime rate for a metro of 1.2 million(except in car thefts which are high), Memphis City Schools are good if you actually care about your education, and leads the state in private and public investment. Americas largest urban park Shelby Farms, and a world class minor leauge baseball stadium, world class NBA arena, world class zoo, and world class museums. Luckly the number of Memphis naysayers are dropping.

Before posting negative Memphis crap, get off your computer for once, and see what city is really like!!!

University of Memphis

The University of Memphis is located in Memphis Tennessee, pretty much the only school that isn't full of racist, homophobic frat boys (University of Tennessee). Our culturally diverse campus, outstanding football team, basketball teams, and music scene are what makes the Tigers stellar. Students trick people into going to religious events by promising free food and naming it something that doesn't sound religious at all. Where the music and theatre majors are always high, and all of the parties play the same five fucking trap songs over and over. Even the white ones. Frat row is the scariest place to walk at night in Memphis.

Memphis

Okay, listen. Memphis is a great city. A lot of people on here keep saying that Memphis is uncultured and has the highest crime rate. Okay, well, Memphis has Beale Street, the National Civil Rights Muesem, and a whole shitload of other stuff. What does your city have? Nothing. And the 64% African American population in Memphis, why does that matter? That's just racism and being stereotypical. White people are just as bad as black people. So get over yourself because bashing Memphis doesn't make you any better than our city's government, which I will admit is very messed up. But then you go to places like Collierville and Germantown and learn that not all of Memphis is as bad as people say. The people saying crap about Memphis on here have probably never even been here. I've lived in Memphis.. well Collierville.. for four years and have been in the city a lot and I have never once gotten my car stolen, gotten mugged, gotten shot, or have seen any of these things being done. So just SHUT UP.

Memphis is amazing.
