Get the Dikely mug.Not to be confused with "Dalmatian," this term refers to the Peruvian Inca Orchid dog breed and is predominately used in the United States and Canada. Although the two breeds are unrelated and were developed in geographically distant regions, many Dielmatians have spotted skin, giving them a passing resemblance to Dalmatians. That being said, the term has also been used to refer to hairless dogs in general, though this is less common.
Dielmatians are typically lively and affectionate dogs, but are often wary of strangers and are very protective of women and children. They have a reputation for being astutely intelligent and are fast learners, making them easy them easy to train, but they will become bored with repetitive games like fetch. Because of their strong sense of smell, they're a popular truffle-hunting dog. Dielmatians are also fast and agile, and love hunting small animals like rodents. Contrary to popular belief, Dielmatians are usually not born blind, dumb, and deaf, though they are natural intolerant to extreme temperatures and require protection against the cold.
