A very cool, open source desktop enviroment currently under developement by Sun Microsystems. In this environment, each window is a 3d object, making for a intuitive and powerful interface. It is designed for Linux/Solaris on the x86 platform, although a version for windows also exists. Looking Glass is still in its begining phases, and the prototype is nearly worthless, although it comes with a variety of programs to show off the environment's capabilities. Pretty impressive, and it doesn't consume very many resources. There is no word on prices, although it will almost definately be free.
Project Looking Glass is one of the many ways Sun Microsystems pwns Microsoft, and perhaps even Apple.

The projects overlook the interstate 580 and interstate 238 interchange and was built on what realtors believed at the time to be prime real estate.
Given the name "Gary Drive Projects" by locals because it is built on the Gary Drive. The area quickly became known as one of the most dangerous ghettos in the U.S. Although easily accessible by two different entrances, the Gary Drive Projects are rarely frequented by local law enforcement officers, and residents of the projects often barricade the entrances to keep cops and non-residents out.
