Mandora's Box

Mandora's Box is the reckoning that men unleash on individuals--or society--for lack of redress of grievance by the State. Mandora's box can be opened when a man or men are cheated or treated unfairly by the system, especially in matters concerning family or divorce courts.
Man 1: "Did you see the evening news last night? Some dude shot and killed his wife's divorce attorney in cold blood."

Man 2: "Geez, this has been happening a lot lately. Looks like Mandora's Box has been opened..."

brown-box

An employer's passive method for saying, "Thanks, but no thanks," when an employee gives two-weeks notice. The employee will walk in one morning to a file box on his or her desk. The box will be used by the employee to pack his or belongings before being escorted out of the building.
I gave the firm my two-weeks notice on Wednesday when I found a better job, and had every intention of working the full notice, but by Friday they had decided just to brown-box me.
