A masculine gay man, the counterpart of sissy. The term derives from the abbreviation for brother: Bro. The term refers to a manly gender expression, regardless of body type, although they are generally associated with being muscular, tattooed or hairy. They are often associated with being discreet, serious, rugged and being tops, as well as not fitting the common gay stereotype. In the vogue-ball room community they are called “Trade” and in Mexico they are called “Chacales”, in Brazil they are called “Mandrakes”.
