Trauma Olympian

A Trauma Olympian is someone who, whether you bring up something bad that happened to you, brings up something that happened to them that is much worse. See also Trauma Olympics.

Joe: I’m really bummed out, my Dog died of cancer yesterday.
Frank: At least your Dog didn’t get run over with a lawn mower like mine did.

A person who makes trauma (big or small, but often something quite private) a significant part of their identity and continually debuts their trauma for each new person they meet

Ugh - Nina is such a traumadante! I literally just met her and now I know all about her teenage pregnancy, giving her child up for adoption but then changing her mind, her deadbeat step-dad, her parents divorce, her own recent divorce after a very hard last 3 years, her most recent tragic love affair that ended abruptly, and a new love affair that is about to crash and burn.
