So that there would be any confusion with people who were fully Spanish(White) vs half Spanish(Native/White), the Spanish made the term to catagorize the three. Today Mexico is full of people who look like Native Americans but in all reality a every few percent are Native American, most are mixed. For this reason there are, as they call them, "white" mexicans because some Mexicans have more Spanish features, while most have indigionous features.
