Indie Guys Style

This is thrown around alot and to be fair indie style isnt really something that you can clearly define. Indie guys generally wear clothing that wouldn't have been out of place in your grandads wardrobe. The whole idea about being indie is that you dont try to look trendy. Indie guys are normaly 21+ and pretty much reminisce of the old days of blur and the longpigs however they are always on the look out for new bands and will be the ones hanging out watching unsigned bands and new talent. Think mumford and sons and where's strutter for new indie talent.

Its easy to pick out the wannabees and "followers" of indie they will be the ones wearing cardigans and wearing converse using the NME to scout for new music.

Indie has changed direction in an effort to hit back at the mainstream labelling and copying of the style by pretty much anyone who wanted to seem cool. Indie guys generally do not like to see people wearing the same sorts of clothing as them but a few common items in a indie guys wardrobe are as follows

Pumps that cost less than a fiver
Jeans (skinnies and straight leg are still a favorite)
Checked shirts (Mainly long sleeved)
Leather Jacket or "Kasabian style military jacket"

Also the indie scene has taken to wearing flat caps more than the trilby now.

The indie guys style is evident in bands such as mumford and sons (they are blue grass but the indie scene does have a tendancy to be able to cross barriers... hence it being called indie (indipendant thinking) ) and kasabian.

Gravity Invites

A gravity invite is when someone is so excited to invite someone to their party, shin-dig or box-social, that they invite everyone/anything within their vicinity. They may also invite anyone that is associated with that person.

Craig: Hey Greg! You should totally come to my party, its gonna be super-stylin! Hey Jenny you should come too and bring the guy in that yellow shirt..
Jenny: Thats Paul the rapist....
Craig: Greg do you know Paul?
Greg: He once butt fucked me without consent...
Craig: Awesome, he is invited
Paul: Cool... I will bring my butt fucking gear. Thank god for gravity invites

IndieShares

A dotcom company that makes it possible for everyone from yoot to ancient to become involved in indie films. IndieShares allows members of the public to vote on which scripts will get made into films and then invest low dollar amounts (as low as $10) in that film and share in the profits.

Now that I found IndieShares, I tell people I meet at parties that I'm a film producer. Chicks dig it!

A genre of music that describes a band that is not quite popular enough to be deemed alternative, but not quite unknown enough to be deemed indie.

I saw that indieternative band "Peter, Bjorn, and John" on Kimmel last night. They rawked!

The official time given for when a band will perform, even though everyone knows they will actually go on at least 45 minutes late.

Person One: What the hell? Weren't Black Lips supposed to go on at 10:00? That was nearly an hour ago!!??!

Person Two: Psh, dude, chillout. They were supposed to go on at 10:00 Indie Rock Standard Time (IRST). Look, they're about to go on now. Right on time.

Indie

Popular and mainstream. Used to be alternative many many years ago but is now mainstream. Indie Rock is not real rock it is pop. Indie clothing is very light coloured and popular. It is shit in other words.
