Get the English much?mug. A person who is not very good looking, or not good looking at all. Can typically vary from 'Plain Jane' or 'Average Joe' to somebody who is extremely displeasing to the eye, or plain out ugly. Often quite boring to look at as well, and can be out right ignored as well.
'Not only does Amanda try too hard to be cute and dumb, but she's quite ugly and fat too. Really, she's not much to look at'.

Get the not much to look atmug. Much obliged means that whatever was done is appreciated. Literally, it could be extended to mean that the person that says "Much obliged" now owes the other a favor. That the one that is obliged is under an obligation to pay back. Most people wouldn't expect a return favor though.
If a man is given a ride into town, when he gets out of the car, he might say "Much obliged". That would mean: "thank you for the ride. I am appreciative"

Get the much in the clutchmug. Phrase from the comedy classic, Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Because of its relatively obscure nature, it is most often used among geeks and hackers. When someone uses this phrase, it is customary for anyone in earshot to point their index finger upward and wave it like a flag in a circular motion, coupled with a very insincere "yaay" - another reference to the original scene.
