Wayang Math

When someone shows off the success of their exam-smart or pseudo-talented kids or tutees in school or olympiad math, by posting photos of their grades, awards, medals, or certificates on social media, dreaming for a googol likes in return—wayang is a Malay word that mockingly describes someone as being “fake” in the sense that they are putting up an act in front of others.

Guesstimate how many wayang math postings appear on Facebook and Instagram every year by oft-kiasu or egocentric parents to hint to their social circles of their “supernatural” parenting or tutoring skills.

Wayland

A nice, small town outside of Boston. The people are really cool, and a lot of them are rich, even though they act like their not, well, the north wayland people brag a little, but they are richer anyways. The cochituate side of wayland isn't as rich, but they dontnbrag about it. We have really awesome school systems, everyone is really smart there. They've got this really awesome pizza place called liberty's where everyone hangs out after school, they're piza is awesome! Some of the people are pretty stupid at making decisions though, cause we had a really boss high school, but the people wanted to build a new one, and I was like, "Are you kidding me??" our teams are super awesome though cause they always win the games, and everyone has a bunch of school spirit, cause we always wear orange and black, ourtown colors, on game days. The only really annoying thing about wayland is that our schools never close on snow days. It is a fun atmosphere here though, and whenever they say something about wayland on the news, everyone in town gets all excited about it. Once, at school, there was cameras filming something for the news, and it was a big deal with everyone in the entire school.
