In my opinion, neopets has always been a rather complicated and unfair game. The difficulty lays in the fact that it is EASIER to make money in the real world, than in neopets world.
Actually, it is not a game fit for people who have a real living, such as works, and studies to take care of. Neopets is far from an entertaining game to distract yourself, since it's so frustrating, and it's an enormous time sucker.
The frustration of it comes with the fact that it is very hard to combine social life with neopian success. It is almost impossible to win at any of the contests, I am a farily good artist, and I never, ever won the art competition (whatever it's called), and was outsmarted by much worse pictures than mine. I never won the beauty contest either, and only once did I win the storytelling.
As far as I remember, you need like millions of neopoints to get a paintbrush, and, in my experience, I was able to get 10,000 np a day, playing several hours.
I must say that I stopped playing neopets for those reasons. I needed to study, and further in the future, I started working. Social life, and neopets can't match.
To make a virtual comunity, well, it's fine. I find it extremely complicated for children, since they are the most competitive.

Get the neopets mug.Neopets is a virtual pet website that used to be kind of fun and really addicting, but now it is swarmed by mentally ill n00b seven year olds begging for "neopoints" and boyfriends. Also, the owners completely sold out, so now all these little kids who have never heard of the website walk into Limited Too (OMFG d@tZ m4I fAvRriT sToR$RE!!!112) and beg mommy for a kyoot plushyy!! There's a new service where people with money will be able to do all the fun stuff the normal people can't.

It's about some people using a pet site for massive advertising so they can get rich. Plus, while you play with your pixels, you see lots of flash banners that slow down the computer and sometimes offers something not suitable for young players like dating agences ads. I think they don't care about the people on the site. At least not anymore.

Get the Neopets mug.A screwed up game that used to be alot of fun, but Doug I don't give a crap about his last name bought the site and turned it into a advertising spot, now there are ads for Dating Sites, Viagra, and other various crapvertisements.
Here are a few reasons why it sucks:
1. TNT(the Neopets Team) is a clan of Hipocrites.
They say the site is not a dating service yet they have dating service links hovering above their messages, they say you can't post a picture of yourself wearing skimpy clothes yet their "faeries" look like they work part time at a strip club.
2. The n00bs(not newbs)
They ruined the boards and TNT bans the poeple that gang againsed them yet let the n00bs get away with saying "AwW s....h...i....t!I l3t mi p3t g3t s1ck!!!!!!!!!!111"
and you say "What?"
Then you get iced(banned)
3. The quality
They claim the shop will restock every 8 minutes or so but it is actually random and by that random I mean a few hours, and because of that people grab the items befor you are done haggling.
4. The moolah
Thats TNT's goal they want to make as much money as they can then the site is officialy abandoned.
5. Frozen
Thats what TNT does for fun, you cant even say "my name is Bob and I live in a box" because they think its is giving out personal info, you can say "Wiccans are the only thing you should believe in because our opinion matters and yours doesn't!!!"(not trying to offend anyone) without getting banned but you get banned for saying "I dont eat ham im Jewish" then you are Banned!

Many people go on it 24/7 AND claim it's addicting. But the fact of the matter is that they have little or no life that they like so neopets is their only way of feeling alive.
i'm not trying too insult i'm just saying that so people leave. Seriously neopets is ruining your life!
There is a 95% chance your account will be frozen within the next 3 months for something as small as saying bump too rise your board too the top of the Fanclub's board.
Oh and I would not reccomend you try out the site people.
The designers are s***, the advertising is annoying and the games are cheap.
The makers are such jerks that most people wouldn't want too be helping them too get money. QUIT BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE.
