Stands for "Faster than Light forum." A forum with so many posts being made that previous threads and posts are very quickly buried by others. Popularized on the Bioware Social Network (BSN), since Bioware's Mass Effect science fiction games frequently use and reference FTL space travel.

I need to constantly bump on this thread so it isn't immediately buried and forgotten in these FTL forums.

When a thread goes slightly off topic and ends up with random insults being thrown at others because of a misunderstanding.
"Ah, yeah good point!! 92.3% of the group only play the cards anyhow - would be boring watching that!!"
A gentle discussion about using "holecams" at a homegame goes a bit mental when "pocketcams" is used to describe them and one person who hasnt heard them described as pocketcams asks what they are hoping to see in someones pockets. Leading to the OP to insult about 280 people, forum tourettes at its finest.

The rules are extremely strict and some of them can be interpreted in different ways, and usually are, by the mods. You can get suspended or banned for almost anything. Recently I was modded for mentioning /b/ in a sentence. Dumbasses.
Most people there have no sense of humor and have their sarcasm detectors off at all times.
OT is plagued by religious debates. The wastes of time and air who post in them are some of the most vile people you will ever meet on the internet.

I was in OT on the Gamespot Forums yesterday and the whole first page was nothing but 17 religious threads 3 threads that were ripping off of a /b/ meme from two years ago.

An phenomenon commonly seen on forums where two members will endlessly smash message after message back and forth, in the hope that they will get the last word, thus supposedly proving their point.
The rest of the forum usually loathes these tireless rebutters, for their obstinance and lack of a life. Forum tennis is best avoided by fully expressing your point of view clearly in a handful of messages at most, and then leaving it at that.

Get the Forum Tennis mug.A person who spends a considerable amount of time on internet forums dedicated to specific interests (music, games, etc). Consider themselves experts on said specific interest while (usually) not contributing anything to the interest themselves. A good size of their input, often the majority of it, is negative; they reason that this is the easiest way to prove themselves knowledgeable on the subject. They have little clout in real life regarding whatever topic the forum is dedicated to, so the forum is the only way they can feel they are contributing.
Person 1: Why does John spend hours each day reviewing songs and albums on the rock music forum, calling most of what he reviews terrible, when he doesn't play an instrument or contribute to music himself?
Person 2: Because he's a stupid forum warrior, that's why.
