Diet Alpha

A man who performs toughness and dominance online while melting down over strangers’ opinions; all the posturing of an “alpha,” with none of the substance. Usually they adopt the language and attitude of hyper-masculinity without the confidence, competence, or self-control typically associated with it. Instead they opt for an approach which mistakes volume for authority, cruelty for wit, and outdated talking points for independent thought.

A common tell of a Diet Alpha is loud certainty and fragile ego, often compelled to insert itself into unrelated discussions and respond defensively to criticism it mistakenly interprets as personal.

Note: this is not to be confused with a true alpha, who rarely feels called out by, or compelled to comment on, matters not involving him.
A true alpha would’ve scrolled past; Andrew, the Diet Alpha, took it personally and wrote a manifesto.

Diet Coke Theory

When someone makes a big deal about a small thing but ignores a bigger problem.
Imagine someone walks into a fast food place and says:
“I want the greasiest, saltiest, most calorie-dense meal you have. Give me all of it.”

Then at the end, they add:
“Oh, and a small Diet Coke. I’m on a diet.”

That is what the "Diet Coke Theory" means!

The Smith Zhou Diet

A diet that involves putting on weight, but at a lower rate than if they didn’t follow the diet and ate whatever they liked. Followers of the Smith Zhou diet eat whatever they like but make each meal slightly healthier than it could be. For example French fries without ketchup, cake without icing, or 23 donuts instead of 24. When followers of the diet put on weight they have excuses such as water retention or faulty scales. This diet requires little discipline and can be followed by anyone who is delusional enough to think it might work.
I’m on the Smith Zhou diet and I’ve not lost any weight, I don’t understand! It must be water retention.
