When actual contact is made, care is taken to ensure punches and kicks land on sturdy muscle groups, while appearing to cause pain. One of the most dangerous contact moves is the face slap, which puts the ears, eyes, nose, and jaw at very high risk.

This is not to be confused with the "noob combo" which is shooting them with an overcharged plasma pistol and then shooting them in the face with a Magnum, Carbine, or Battle Rifle. The pro combo is much more common than the noob combo in the third Halo because of the large nurf that the plasma pistol received.

a: out of spite because it just killed you in under a second
b: because it can be utilized by players of lesser skill to easily defeat those of exponentially higher skill.
c: because the auto-aim in Halo2 is so significant that even a n00b could get kills with it.
Particularly difficult to counter do to poor weapon balance in Halo2, use of this combo is seen as bad form or a sign of mediocre skill.
