facebook induced mood disorder

A new psychiatric disorder, soon to be released in the DSM V, in which an adolescent becomes suicidal, fakes feeling suicidal, or reports homicidal ideation that is directly related to a series of facebook wall posts from said adolescents love interest, rivals, friends, or enemies. This syndrome often leads to a psychiatric admission, and treatment with Adderall, Lexapro, or both. Sadly.
Resident Doctor Smith: "Well, Connor, what brings you to the psychiatric emergency room today?"

Connor: "I cut my wrists after my ex-girlfriend posted on my wall that she thinks I'm gay, and she's sleeping with my cousin! I hate her! I have no reason to live!"

Resident Doctor Smith: "Connor, you are suffering from facebook induced mood disorder. I am going to admit you to the Adolescent Psychiatry Inpatient Unit. You will need to be stabilized on Adderall and Lexapro, stat. And eat with a spork."

Disobedient Computer Syndrome

A pandemic malady afflicting most anyone who uses hardware, software, and an operating system together. Add a network operating system or proprietary Internet connection software, and you have an acute case on your hands.

Abbreviation: DCS
Ever since I installed SP2, this blasted PC exhibits DCS by lipping off, (see lip off}, at me about the stupidest things instead of doing the task I gave it.

Antisocial Personality Disorder

Otherwise known as AsPD or more commonly, Sociopathy. Sociopaths, on contrary to common belief, are, in most cases, not criminals or murderers. Only severe sociopathy may result in crime. Sociopaths are people who disregard or violate rules of society, lacks guilt and empathy, and despite being impulsive, they are probably intelligent and charismatic.
One of my close friends has Antisocial Personality Disorder. She excels in Maths and psychology, though she constantly gets into hot water by her impulse. She values ratiocination and logical reasoning but do not understand how others feel.

Dissociative Identity Disorder

A dubious diagnosis associated with the recovered memory movement in psychology. DID is a pattern of behavior characterized by the learned enactment of different identities, usually including psychologically wounded "inner children." These are claimed to have resulted from repressed childhood involvement in satanic ritual abuse, child porn rings, mind control experiments, or similar extremely severe abuse. The creation of personalities occurs hand-in-hand with the formation of the abuse narrative in the vast majority of cases.

The process of memory/personality creation usually involves the suggestion of a sympathetic and charismatic therapist, but it can also occur within groups of "survivors" on the internet or in self-help groups. The process is likened to a cult, since participants often cut off contact with former friends and relatives who question the bizarre direction of therapy and instead form bonds with other recovered memory "survivors."
Motives for embracing Dissociative Identity Disorder may include the following:

1. Suggestion by an authority figure that recovering abuse memories will lead to healing.
2. Sympathy/attention associated with the victim role (There is high overlap with dramatic/historionic/borderline personality disorders).
3. Involvement in a complex and interesting project, as the client creates personalities to reflect different aspects of her fantasies.
4. Absolution of responsibility for one's problems implied by the victim role.
5. Sexual fetishes or fantasies that would otherwise feel unacceptable can be enacted and attributed to the "memories" of abuse. In fact, studies show that there is a high representation of DID in online groups for ageplay and domination/submission games.
