pretendship

A false friendship that two people honor because they feel like they have to, not because they actually want to.
This generally involves a male and a female relationship in which person A likes person B and hopes to be more than friends, while the person B keeps person A there out of sheer pity, which results in person B thinking he or she has a chance with person A.

Elliot: I'm sick of my pretendship with him.

Dick: Then ditch him. You know he wants to get back together with you, and you know that you don't care about him AT ALL.

Elliot: But...

Dick: Lingering in this pretendship will do you both damage in the end. He will only think you are leading him on.

Elliot: True dat.

pretenemy

Pretenemies act as if they dislike each other, when really, that isn't the case. It can be ambiguous, at times, as to just how fictitious the mutual dislike is or isn't.

Pretenemy is a portmanteau of "pretend" and "enemy."

Contrast with frenemy (friend and enemy), in which case there is definitely a genuine measure of emnity. Both frenemies and pretenemies, however, are friends on some level.

Example 1:

I'm pretty sure David and myself are pretenemies. We argue a lot but there is no real anger or disagreement, and we consider it entertaining. At least, I do...

Example 2:

Me: "I have an example in mind: 'But isn't Quinn just your pretenemy?'
"'No, he has no pretenemies. Everyone actually hates him.'"

David: "But you don't know Quinn has no pretenemies for a fact."

Me: "It doesn't matter, it's Urban Dictionary. It's an example."

David: "Then it's a dictionary, it has to be accurate."

Me: "This is why we're pretenemies."

Prisencolinensinainciusol

From Wikipedia: "Prisencolinensinainciusol" prizɛnkɔlinɛnsinɛntʃuzəl is a song composed by Adriano Celentano, and performed by Celentano and his wife, singer/actress-turned-record producer Claudia Mori. It was first released as a single on November 3, 1972, and later on his album Nostalrock. The lyrics are pure gibberish.

In a later interview, Celentano said that "Prisencolinensinainciusol" stood for "universal love".

pretentious hipster

oh man... OH MAN! OH MAN OH MAN OH MAN! whoever wrote that definition before me. THAT is pretentious hipster talk. Hipsters are never okay and they don't actually have opinions, obnoxious or otherwise. They merely conform to unpopular fashions. That's it. That's all. It's a self-entitled way to feign social awkwardness that people with their total lack of worthwhile qualities and talent would be feeling as genuine outcasts if they didn't secretly believe themselves superior and ironically hilarious. In this way, it's also an attempt to cash in on attention using geek chic. They don't care about winning arguments because they don't have beliefs except the above. Pretentious people try to sound smarter than they are, e.g. by making dissonantly unnecessary references to counter culture figures, but hipsters are so far beyond pretentious that they think appreciation of meaningless t-shirt slogans is enough to elevate them to social icon status. This makes the phrase pretentious hipster so redundant that it should just be shortened to hipster, except when describing what hipsters talk about; ie pretentious hipster bullshit, such as "I met that indie rock singer. She's an argyle superstar." A hipster is a therefore a psychological trainwreck that should be avoided until he/she inevitably ruins itself.

1: Are you going to use Scorsese references in your pretentious hipster bullshit this weekend?

2: No, film is too mainstream. I'm just sucking fame's dick in a general way until someone tells me a new way to seem unique.
