This enables a developer to spend the weekend rewriting critical system functionality as a passion project without risking total system collapse.
Resulting in potentially usably incongruent abominations within the wider system.
Ensuring that said developer has job security, in being the only one that understands a small but crucial part of the system.

Dev: Hi Boss, I built an experimental microservice on Saturday to replace that one part of the system that is a bit iffy. I'm sure we can iterate on in and make usable and highly available.
