a large genocide in Ukraine (1932-1933) caused as a result of the Soviet Union laws under Joseph Stalin, who became the Communist dictator of the Soviet Union (ruled 1927-1953).

As Communism progressed through the decades, many countries began suffering starvation through its effects, such as what happened in the Holodomor.
