a large genocide in Ukraine (1932-1933) caused as a result of the Soviet Union laws under Joseph Stalin, who became the Communist dictator of the Soviet Union (ruled 1927-1953).

A large man-made famine in Ukraine (1932-1933) caused as a result of Joseph Stalin's collectivization policies. Rural Ukrainians resisted said policies by killing livestock, burning buildings, and killing local officials. The grain they relied on after destroying many food sources was taken without factoring in these loses and as a result many Ukrainians in the countryside died.
