Mum - "I went to a lot of trouble to get it.
*Kid opens present*
Kid - "...It's the wrong type. Did you keep the receipt?"
Dad - "Another 'merry' disappointment day!"

commercialized disappointment

The feeling you get when you see a totally kick-ass ad, but then receive a smack in the face when you realize that the product being advertised is either terrible, or one that you hate.

Man, that was a pretty su-weet ad.
