The act of a family pet, typically a cat or dog, grooming their genitals in a public display. For instance, in the middle of the living room floor while you have guests over.

The cat decided to licksplay herself in the middle of the room while we watched the final quarter of the football game.

Couples operate in public areas, and they display affection such as holding hands, kissing etc. They do this to rub it in single people's faces that they don't have a boyfriend/girlfriend.
