A highly contagious disease spreading between students, who approach the end of an educational period. It is common that nearly every student within a term is infected. Even though the symptoms might vary between countries as well as between individual students, the world wide threat can be identified by a massive increase in stress levels. It may also comes with other symptoms such as severe depression, anxiety and insomnia... For some reason teachers all other the world tried to counter this disease with written exams regarding specific topics. Even though this procedure might cure the majority of students, it might also cause long term effects which are proven to impact the students life. Even "cured" persons may suffer from ongoing depression and huge losses in self-esteem and sanity. Testing a students knowledge and skills during this mentally unstable period is also heavily in doubt.
I'm pretty worried about Carl. He behaved pretty strange recently and I didn't see him smiling for weeks..." - "Yep, he's got Finals coming up. Just hope he's recovering well during holidays..."

Get the Finals mug.A video game that was very popular when first released in the arcades in 1989. Home versions were not as good as the arcade but some came close, such as the X680000 and Mega/SEGA CD versions. Numeruous seuqels appeared on the Super Nintendo and other consoles but all were inferior to the original. Some of the characters from the Final Fight series later made it into some of the Street Fighter games.
One thing the first game is remembered for is that the upset two of the enemies caused to Nintendo. The characters Poison and Roxy were replaced in the Super Nintendo versions with Billy and Sid because Nintendo USA thought Posion and Roxy were transvestites. These characters were left in the Japanese version though.
The game is in the scrolling beat 'em up genre, with your character walking around fighting anyone that dares to attack you. You have a few different moves in the original version (later games had many more moves) and special attacks. The enemies can get real tough later on, and there are often loads of them on screen as well.
Despite being a very popular game back in the day, only 1 good fan site on the series now exists, located at www.classicgaming.com/finalfight

Get the homme fatale mug.In my opinion, the best game ever. Final Fantasy IX is very different thematically to FFVII and FFVIII since it returns to its roots. Instead of a modern world with mobiles and emails, the setting is pretty simple (although there are airships). It truly feels like a fantasy game and one that is done extremely well.
The characters are all unique and are brought to life by a beautifully written script. Nobuo Uematsu returned for his last solo FF sound track and it was amazing. From the beginning piece 'The Place I'll Return to Someday' to the emotionally powerful 'You're not alone', the music never fails to pull at those heart strings.
The gameplay is solid and enjoyable despite lacking any uniqueness. Which brings me onto another point about FFIX in that it was intended to be a throw back to the earlier Final Fantasys. In that respect the plot, characters and setting were not ground breaking. But all these aspects were done so damn well that Sakaguchi, the series founder called it the best Final Fantasy yet. Uematsu said the same.
In conclusion, FFIX is a magnificent game although it failed to make the impact that many FF fans (such as me) feel it deserved. So, for those of you who haven't played it, go play it now! It is more than just a game, the experience and memories may well last you a lifetime.
