Autism is a highly misunderstood spectrum disorder. Many people think it is a disease but autistic people have made such a positive impact on our world. Greta Thunberg, Einstein and even Messi are rumoured to have/had it. i am autistic myself and i struggle with the problems it brings but i will get through it. Autism is not a disease.

an dumb insult used by toxic/edgy 13 year old kids on the internet mostly in gaming , to describe someone as a complete retard, when in fact it has nothing to do with mental retardation and probably encountered people with that condition smarter than them.

a disorder that is not well-defined. it occurs on a spectrum. it means that your mind is essentially different from other people's. oftentimes people with autism expirience hightened or lessened empathy and sensory expiriences

1. A disability known for causing obsessive behaviours, delayed social development and in some cases learning difficulties. 2. Used as an insult for anything bad by morons.

What the Internet thinks: A disease that makes you permanently retarded.
Reality: A disorder of the brain present at or shortly after birth that makes socializing more difficult. People with autism appear to be socially awkward and tend to get overwhelmed easily (See "Sensory Overload). As tempting as it may be to poke fun at them, that is exactly what you SHOULDN'T do. All they want to be validated and understood by other people.
Being a disorder that affects the brain, there is no way to "fix" autism. But we don't need to. You can still live a normal, possibly highly successful life with autism. Many famous scientists were autistic, and even some singers such as Marty Balin of Jefferson Airplane were autistic.

The only people who can understand autism are those who have autism.

A mental health condition typically characterized by impaired social skills, obsessive interests, repetitive behaviors, and stimming. The spectrum is famously gigantic, and each individual with autism is different. Most people with this condition aren’t savants although some are. Some people with this condition “pass” as not having it as there’s symptom overlap between autistic people non-autistic people.
Hans Asperger was the first psychologist to have observed autism. He thought of it as a neurological difference to be respected. Leo Kanner took credit for his work and introduced a harsher view of autism.
This culminated in autism being thought of as childhood “psychosis” that resulted from bad parenting. Many people believe that autism rates have been increasing when, in fact, autism diagnosis has only been increasing because of the changing medical model.
