Not just a symbol(*). But a reference to one's sphincter, specifically the anus.

Notably used by Kurt Vonnegut in his novel Breakfast of Champions. Also appears in the Dresden Dolls song, The Kill.

An asterisk ---> ( * ), is a symbol found on the keyboard that is used to call attention to a reference, the symbol also appears in many advertisements, and this symbol is widely used in the Roleplaying genre of Roblox, basically, the Asterisk symbol starts at the beginning of a roleplay sentence and also is added at the end of that sentence.

An asterisk is used (*) in terms of correction of when a word is misspelled or mistaken for another. It is placed at the end of the correct word to replace a clearly definable mistake in a sentence.
