Limited Logic System

A logical framework with clear boundaries—defined axioms, fixed rules, constrained possibilities—that operates within those boundaries to produce valid inferences and reliable conclusions. Limited logic systems are what we actually use most of the time: classical logic in mathematics, legal reasoning in courts, scientific method in labs. They're powerful precisely because they're limited—the boundaries create the clarity that makes reasoning possible. Limited logic systems are the workhorses of thought, reliable and productive. They're also incomplete—they can't handle everything, don't claim to. That's what makes them useful.

Limited Logic System Example: "Her legal training was a limited logic system—clear rules, defined precedents, constrained interpretations. Within those limits, she could reason with precision and power. Outside them, she was as lost as anyone. The limits weren't failures; they were the source of her expertise. Limited logic made her effective in her domain and humble about its boundaries."

Limitocracy

A system of government in which personal spending is capped at a certain amount per year (e.g. $2,500,000 annually), while corporate spending may exceed this limit.

A limitocracy is the antidote to a kleptocracy, because it limits greed and economic inequality.
A limitocracy is different from communism and socialism, because it doesn't cap personal income or wealth, nor does it limit corporate spending.

A phrase used by players of the Pokémon TCG asking someone to provide their LimitlessTCG page.

Often used to shut someone up if they’re saying something stupid within the community.

pot limit

A poker term used for the restriction of betting. In Pot Limit, the biggest bet or raise may only match the current pot size, as opposed to No Limit, where the range of betting is unlimited.

For example, if there are 30 chips in the pot when Player A decides to bet, the most he can bet is another 30 chips. If Player B decided to raise, he would call the 30 from Player A (bringing the pot to 90), and could raise up to 90 more (This is because whenever someone raises in any form of poker, the raised amount includes the call of the original bet/raise with an extra amount on top).

The most common forms of poker played Pot Limit are Omaha and Five Card Draw, and occasionally Texas Hold 'em.

laugh limit

This is the point where a relatively serious person suddenly goes over the edge to a laughing person. It can be brought on by a joke or a situation, and it doesn't require any prompting although previous jokes increase the chance of breaking the laugh limit.

John was being very serious about his financial situation until he saw a very funny political video, and then suddenly he broke the laugh limit. Then he was laughing so hard that he almost cried.
