'Delete' can have several different meanings and is very context dependent, here are just a few examples:
When you have demolished your food - deleted
When you have completed a task - deleted (a film/degree/project)
When your friend has scored/died in the club - deleted

When you post your stock or margin losses on social media with a triumphant hashtag or saying, expecting (or in a panic trying to justify) how it will inevitably reverse and you'll be a gazzillionaire.
Hey, I bought 10 GME shares at $380 a share. I work at a grocery store and make $2,200 a month. I spent 6 weeks salary on the stock of a company the resells video games using brick and mortar retail in 2021. Luckily, I believe in delete loss porn. Without any evidence, and doing no actual research apart from reddit or Facebook, I think this $3800 investment will easily be worth $500,000 later this year 🤪🤪🤪

Replying to someone's twitter feed with a dumb joke, leaving it there just long enough for said person to read it, then deleting it to avoid embarrassment from followers.
I retweeted a friend's "...gonna be hard enough." with "that's what she said. #TWSS | #LOL" then five minutes later retweet-deleted it, cause I know his wife follows him.

Deleting season essentially refers to a period of time that typically lasts for an hour, a day, or even a week (depending on how many followers you have) that involves getting rid of spectators that directly have access to view your life by being friends on social media that you do not want to have access. Deleting season affects only those that you do not want to have any input of your daily activities or those who call you out on what you post.
Why did you unfollow me? Because it’s deleting season.
I have too many followers that I do not even know, I guess I’m going to go through deleting season.
Them: Looks like somebody had fun on the weekend from your posts.
Me: I’m putting you through deleting season.
