In this usage, divers describes individuals who enter a community and advocate for change under the banner of diversity, but in ways that center their own perspectives while overlooking the existing culture. The term also implies that diversity may be rhetorically "weaponized" to avoid critique or deeper engagement.

I'm not sure if these divers realize they are chasing away people that have been in our community for years.
