From my Peruvian ex-roomie I learned that it was for peasants or general degragatory for poor people; or in the opinion of the rich people 'the indians'.

In response to my concern of the army harming poor people during a soccer riot "They are cholos, their silly lives mean nothing" (this is quite an effective insult, but could get you killed) and also his telling me a story about his relative running over a poor person with his jet boat "He was a cholo, but they had a funeral for him and everything."

In Texas, the word is used by Hispanics to talk about California Hispanics (specifically LA). The differences in Spanglish dialects are very noticeable in films.

Though filmed in Austin, the actors in Machete speak like a bunch of Cholos.

Cholla clown

Any girl or woman of Mexican heritage, who has either shaved or plucked their eyebrows, and has re-drawn them back on, usually way too high to appear normal, as two half circles over their eyes in the middle of their foreheads (like clowns). They usually are obese, loud, think they are hot, and dress like skanks and are always ready to fight.

Hey Trent, let's go in that mexican bar and pick up some spicy mexi-babes.
Dude, you must be drunk to think there are anything but chollos and cholla clowns in there.
