Pseudo-Sarcasm

When one person attempts to be sarcastic but their sarcastic comment is actually true for the situation.

Therapist: You have depression, you need some pills for that.
Rachel: Fine, show me these "anti-depressants"! *sarcastically*
Therapist:they are called Anti-Depressants, so sarcasm, denied.
Rachel: Well, thats some Pseudo-Sarcasm...

meta-sarcasm

The act of striking the balance between coming across as sarcastic and coming across as sincere, so it is unclear as to whether you are being sarcastic. Not to be confused with post-sarcasm (meta-irony is to post-irony as meta-sarcasm is to post-sarcasm) which is being sincere in message while coming across as sarcastic in form.

Michelle and I got in an argument yesterday, but I think we've resolved it - she seems calm about it. I asked if she wanted to hang out, and she replied, "Sure, I would love to hang out today😉". I think she might be playing Schroedinger's feeling concealment. I hate meta-sarcasm.

When someone uses a sarcastic statement to elicit a response from someone else to gain knowledge of that person's thoughts or feelings.

Boy: Why are you so down? Sarcastic tone or light sarcastic aura Is it because I like someone else?

Girl: Very defensive tone What?? No way! You're not my type!

Boy: Relax, I was just joking. (Man, she was heated. There's a good chance that she DOES like me based on that defensive response. Thanks to a little fisherman's sarcasm, now I know her true feelings.)
