A woman, married or in a relationship, who is often left alone on a regular basis for significant periods of time (multiple days), enough to seem to be single or without companionship.

Male version: Work Widower

With her husband's work schedule only allowing him to visit every other weekend, she was often know to refer to herself as a 'work widow'.

The girlfriends, boyfriends and spouses of Roller Derby Girls call themselves “Derby Widows”. The term originates from the fact that Roller Derby is a sport as well as a faith-based initiative and can be very time consuming, leaving ones life partner "widowed".

If you are a girl dating a Derby Girl, don’t try and fight it. You will probably become one too.

If you're a guy dating a Roller girl, either accept your derby widow status, or try to support her by supporting the league as a volunteer.
