One of a baddest ninjas on Naruto. He is a older brother of Sasuke Uchiha, once a prodigy of the Uchiha Clan who rose in ninja ranks at early age. He friggin killed his own clan for some unknown reasons, probably to motivate his envious brother to grow stronger and be a threat to his awesomeness. He left Konoha and join an criminal organization Akatsuki. He's partners with S-Criminal of Water Country Kisame Hoshigake. His ninja skills are cool, with his sharighan, he can copy ninjutsu, taijutsu, and genjustu and send it back to his opponents. With his Mangekyo Sharigan, He can send his foes to a illusionary world and torture them for 72 years, mentally crippled Sasuke and Kakashi. With his sharighan, He could be God-like Invisible Ninja.

The most overrated piece of shit in anime, whenever someone brings up strong Naruto characters he has to be in the discussion. Even though he’s fodder compared to Madara, Obito, Naruto, Sasuke and pretty much the rest of the main protagonists and antagonists.

Uchiha Itachi is the other brother of Uchiha Sasuke. He is a "missing" S Class ninja and also a member of The Akatsuki, where his partner is the "famous" shark-man Kisame (Weilder of the Samehada). Uchiha Itachi murdered his best friend in order to obtain the Mangekyou Sharingan. Uchiha Itachi then murdered the entire Uchiha clan except for his younger brother Uchiha Sasuke. The reason for that is so that Sasuke could become strong enough to kill Uchiha Itachi.
The Japanese word "itachi" literally means "weasel." In which most people often make fun of Uchiha Itachi for that reason.

Itachi is the first spawn of the Uchiha clan head. He is immediately recognized as a 'genius', amazingly skilled at ninja fighting/tactical abilities across the board, despite very little canonical evidence of this. Fugaku mostly ignores Itachi's little brother in favor of Itachi, which is ironic since generally it's the scorned child that goes and offs everyone.
Which is what Itachi did, incidentally, then he was busy being a troubled teen.
Shortly after the death of the Third Hokage, roughly five years later, Itachi returns to Konoha, this time under the organization, Akatsuki, and in pursuit of Naruto. Itachi's little brother is understandably incensed by Itachi's reappearance; he challenges him and gets PWN'd.
Thereafter, Itachi makes numerous random appearances, to no particular avail. He is apparently going blind, which makes it even more sad, because it's obvious he's never been to a seamstress in his life, and all of his clothes fit him like run-over shopping bags.
Then he dies.
