Honeypot

A honeypot in the context of extreme political elements, is a person or organization who lures genuine radicals and sympathizers in, with an extreme ideological message, but are really just trying to trap or gather intelligence on a target — typically with the goal to alert local, state, or federal law enforcement to arrest, delegitimize, and publicly blacklist that target.

This is very common among ultra-right nationalist groups who claim to want to fight back against Left-Wing violence, but are not authentic, and very may well be honeypots. Good examples of suspected honeypots, are: Nicholas J. Fuentes and White Lives Matter movements.
