Although not formally affiliated with any religion, Haverford was founded by Quakers, and values such as respect, tolerance, and concern for others are integral in the college community. The academic and social Honor Code, written originally and affirmed annually by the students, is a central part of Haverford. Because of the Honor Code, students are able, to a large extent, to govern themselves. Most tests are unproctored. There are few rules at Haverford that don't have to do with being respectful of others and keeping students safe. Discipline is overwhelmingly restorative rather than retributive. One can pretty much do whatever he or she wants as long as it doesn't hurt anybody. Academically, Haverford is one of the strongest colleges in the country.
Student: Haverford is sweet; everyone looks out for each other, and it's like the Amsterdam of small liberal arts schools.

Get the Haverford mug.a village in rockland county, new york. Has mostly Hispanic people in it but there is a handfull of Black and Irish people too. Many rocklanders consider it to be one of the more "ghetto" towns in the county, which is both true and not true. There are many areas of haverstraw that are working class and have crime, but there are also some nice parts of the village (like the bay, its very beautiful, and the houses/apartments there aint so cheap either). It is located right off the coast of the Hudson River at its widest point.

So many Irish immigrants settled in Havertown that it was said that there were more people in Havertown who claimed to be Irish then there were in Ireland.
Havertown is a rich and colorful town with an excess of Nail Salons and Pizza Parlors, and growing venue of upscale and specialty dining establishments. The schools in Havertown are top end in academics, art, theater and social tolerance. Don't be surprised to run into suburban moms and dads building archery ranges or open fires in their back yards, or out on pub crawls with the neighbors. The police of Havertown are serious, hard working and honest. If you behave yourself then they'll ignore your fire and public drunkenness. If you make an ass of yourself then you'll get to see the inside of a cell.
Folks who live in Havertown tend to stay in Havertown often purchasing homes on the same street where they grew up. People don't outgrow their homes and move on; they simply put additions on their houses. Children graduate from College and move to Philadelphia or wander the country or the world. Most come back to Havertown when they are ready to get serious and start families.
