a style of slang talk that is commonly associated with "black people" and "black impersonators". still commonly used, still commonly ridiculed by closet racists. are you going to make fun of every other slang there is? 9 times out of ten, you who is reading this uses slang in everyday life... why else would they be on urbandictionary?

Literally translated from "ebony" and "phonics", Ebonics is NOT slang, it is NOT an immediate label that categorizes a person's intelligence simply because they speak it, Ebonics is a Regional Vernacular that functions as a Middle to Older compostion of the English language; adding extra negatives, fluctuating tenses and simplifying past/present/future tenses. The Southern American Vernacular is the largest Accent Group in the United States and varies depending upon which regional dialect is in question. The term "Ebonics" has been misconstrued by media into having this reputation of being some "jungle-bunny language" that only non-intellectuals with violent tendencies are prone to use, when in actuality AAE (African American English) is nothing more than a sociocultural form of English that varies between cultures and regions wherein the Southern American English dialects are found.
Metathesised Form Examples: Graps (Grasp), Aks (Ask) / etc.
Dropping Copulas (most commonly recognized and associated with Ebonics): Who you? / Where you at? / Who he be? / Where he been? / You crazy! / Where you put it at? / She my sister. / etc.
Altered Syntax: Why they ain't growin'? / Who the hell she think she is? / Who you think you be? / etc.

Was to be an educational tool to help black and latino school age children to grasp Standard American English (SAE). Once it was picked up by a biased media that made certain to manipulate this into a racial controversy (remember how they manipulated us during the beginning of the Iraqi occupation?) So the whole premise of ebonics was beaten down because we don't want no ghetto kids to start speaking SAE and having more opportunities and gettin' all uppity with the white folks. WORD!

African american colloquial street language, slang and speech manerisms, eg "check it out ya'll, ma main man Gerald be rollin our way", which translates to "look everyone, here comes my friend Gerald". Usually involves purposefully incorrect grammar and syntax (as in "we be doing X"). Funny thing about ebonics, their use is supposed to be shun for sounding uneducated and uncultured. However, there's nothing white americans love more ebonic idioms (hold on, there is one other thing they like even more than that : shooting innocent black people for the hell of it). Hence modern american is now riddled with terms such as "|booty", "naw'mean?", "a'ight", "I'ma be buying the new iphone", "|dawg", "|holla", "my man", "getcha X on", "where my ladies at", "|whack" and tens of thousands of other words and sayings that just sound utterly ridiculous and annoying when pronounced by racist white people trying to sound gangsta thinking they'll impress people using expressions from a culture they openly despise. The term wigger even exists to describe people pretending to be black all the time because they think this will make them sound cool. But the teriffying truth is about 80% of the american population now talks like that, quite possibly without them even realizing it.
