BATs

Acronym for "bridge and tunnel."

BATs, or the bridge and tunnel crowd, are those who venture into Manhattan on Friday and Saturday nights from the outer boroughs and/or New Jersey (thus requiring travel through a bridge or tunnel) in search of an exciting night in the city. They are often perceived as being less sophisticated than Manhattanites and are usually seen donning unfashionable clothing. The term is most often associated with people who have thick Italian accents and/or fake tans.

Hipster 1: "Why do you always go out on on Thursday nights?"

Hipster 2:"Less chance of running into trashy BATs."
