Slash ash

n. 1. Originally coined in the late 80's and used primarily by rockers, a rare term that describes a very enlongated cigarette ash on an untapped or unflicked cigarette which was frequently observed occurring with guitarist Slash of Guns N' Roses fame as he would chain smoke while playing guitar.

"Whoa dude, you better get an ashtray, you've got one hell of a Slash ash and it's about to fall off and get all over everything"

analogous to "taking a piss". This phrase was used in the Season 3 Premiere of "Turn: Washington's Spies". Seems like a colloquialism of the late 1700s.

Kirk and Spock were the first slash fanfiction pairing.

slashdot

A reference to the root (top most) directory on a Unix system (written as "/."). This is normally used when logged in as the root user, as it can be a security threat to have the root directory as part of root's path. This was borrowed as the name for the popular news site "slashdot.org".

"cd /." goes to the root directory.

Slams

n. In prison, inmates will put chips, various candy, cheetos etc between two pieces of bread. (like a sandwich) and eat it. It gets its name from the chips or whatever being slamed between two pieces of bread.

slashing

To slash something.

That is, take an existing work of fiction and add or imply a homosexual subtext to it. Some do it because they find it amusing. Others do it because they find it arousing.

Most common targets for slashing are the Harry Potter and Lord Of The Rings books and movies. Macho movies, especially 'Top Gun' and 'Fight Club' are also favoured targets of this activity.

#1: I love slashing the Lord Of The Rings movies. I know it's all about friendship but the way the actors play Sam/Frodo and Aragorn/Legolas I simply can't believe it's platonic.

#2: For the love of all that is holy will you STOP slashing Shindler's List!
