The Palisades are home to rich people (literal millionaires) which burned down at the beginning of 2025 as a result of a formidable, unforgiving fire fueled by Santa Ana Winds, reaching up to 100+ mph (hurricane level!) and harshly dry weather conditions. Within 4 or 5 days, the Palisades fire managed to burn down over 20K acres of mountainous land and vegetation, with several thousands of those rich people's homes being destroyed.
The Pacific Palisades fire is estimated to be the costliest in US history, estimated to exceed more than $150 billion in damage. Construction and repairs may take anywhere from a couple months to even one year.
