When installing a new sound card like a Sound Blaster or setting up an external MIDI synthesizer, this was always the first file you'd try to make sure your hardware worked properly.
The file is essentially a MIDI version of "Trip Through the Grand Canyon" composed by George Stone, hence the name Canyon.mid.
