Too sweet

When somebody has reached the point that you see them for what they truly are and you realize that they're just "too much" and you'd rather not have them in your life like when somebody hands you a pastry or something very sweet like a candy and it's just "too much" to handle.

Sweet

Sweet, in this context, is used to express relief, usually at something you didn't want to happen, no longer happening.
Let's say you are meant to do an exam tommorow, but it gets cancelled, that brings relief. I would say "sweet mate" for example.
Think of it as a replacement for "good". ("good" -> "sweet")
