Information Systems

The major for people that aren't smart enough to handle computer science.

Typically involving idiots that want to work for a large company, sit in a cubicle, and work for people that don't typically understand a thing about computers (other than the fact that they can look at pr0n with them).

This is usually ok as a typical IS major is only a notch or two above their computer illiterate coworkers.

Typical IS tasks: Helping their boss figure out how to change the font on their word document, creating a 'database' using an Excel spreadsheet, helping their boss erase the lemonparty.com history item off their workstation.

While not all IS majors are bad or stupid people, the sad truth is that the bad and stupid ones often end up in charge of actual computer scientists because they 'know tech'
I wanted to work in computers but all that math, science, and actually understanding shit was too hard, so I went into Information Systems.

inharmonicity

The degree to which the frequencies of overtones (known as partials, partial tones, or harmonics) depart from whole multiples of the fundamental frequency.
in stringed instruments such as the piano, violin, and guitar, the overtones are close to—or in some cases, quite exactly—whole number multiples of the fundamental frequency. Any departure from this ideal harmonic series is known as inharmonicity. The less elastic the strings are (that is, the shorter, thicker, and stiffer they are), the more inharmonicity they exhibit.

information deprivation

Hiding or depriving individuals or groups of people of facts to keep them ignorant and powerless. Individuals and organizations do that to protect themselves, to monopolize power, or to more easily take advantage of others.
I think it's safe to say that at some point and to varying degrees everybody practices information deprivation against those they interact with in order to trick them.

Informalized

Derived from an article in a very famous newspaper that described a practise as "informally formalized." To formalize a practise at the working level, without official sanction.
The manual didn't cover how to submit product concerns, so we've informalized the process of submitting product concerns by email.

osculum infamme

Latin? Term used to describe the "kiss of infamy" or "devil's kiss" originating from when it was believed that witches and warlocks and satanists attending a sabbat would bestow such a kiss upon a manifestation of Satan's anus
The editorship of certain newspapers requires the postion holder to obediently bestow the osculum infamme upon the owners/shareholders to ensure continued favouritism.
