This was so the latter country could thaw out still more fossil fuels from under the polar ocean, taking over both energy sources and trade routes of the remaining habitable zones. However, the resulting environmental collapse, plagues and refugee crises led to a nuclear war, eventually involving the entire planet- hence our miserable existence for the last two millennia . Now, when the fate of something important rests in the hands of one person, and he screws up real bad, or when you and everyone around you is about to suffer, you utter "COVFEFE!!!"
