In 1940 Stevenston recieved its first railway station and has become part of The Three Towns group of Stevenston/Saltcoats/Adrossan. Stevenston contains both good and bad residential areas and unfortunately too many bored teenagers with nothing better to do than to cause trouble. It is not recommended to walk barefoot on the rubbish strewn Stevenston beach unless you also want to visit the local A+E based at Crosshouse hospital in Kilmarnock. Part of the beach however is a nudist area. Due for massive Urban Regeneration, includes Saltcoats, Adrossan, Killwinning, Stevenston and Irvine.
