It is the most even series in collegiate football, with neither side ever being ahead in the series by more than 8 consecutive wins (Baylor from 1974-1981 and TCU from 1964-1971). As of summer of 2021 TCU leads 56–53–7.
The name "Revivary" is a play on the fact that both schools began primarily as religious schools and seminaries and continue to this day to hold direct religious affiliations, Baylor with the Southern Baptist Convention and TCU with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). It is the oldest rivalry between two private religious schools in the entirety of college sport.
