cubbyhole effect

Coined by Mara and Gus in 2022, the cubbyhole effect occurs when you talk about a highly specific topic and in less than 24 hours, the topic becomes relevant. The shorter amount of time between the first and second mentions makes it even more cubbyhole. As of April 2022, the fastest cubbyhole effect occurred in less than 5 seconds.

Mom: you should really learn Spanish.
James: yeah, probably should. Line is crazy long here at the DMV.
DMV employee: DOES ANYONE HERE KNOW SPANISH?

The beer effect

The beer effect occurs when you are in a restaurant with someone you don't know that well, and everybody gets like water or diet coke, until you order a beer, and everybody changes their mind and gets beer too :-)

Paul: - "I'll have a diet coke."
Sarah: - "I'll have a glass of water."
Martin: "I'll have a beer."
Paul: - "You know what, i'll have beer too. I don't want the coke.
Sarah: - "I'll have a beer as well"
Martin: "Yeah. Thats the beer effect."

The Dunkaroo Effect

When you have 1 substance (dunkaroos) which should be used with another substance 2 (frosting), and you end up with way more leftover substance 1 or 2 and you have no idea what to do with the substance in question.

Shant: Damn homie, I have all this frosting but no Dunkaroos left, what the hell am I supposed to do with this?

Brian: OMG dude, I dont know. Thats crazy. The Dunkaroo Effect is difficult to overcome..

Shawn Green Effect

The Shawn Green Effect is basically a curse. If you try to have any fun, either your voice will crack, or you will throw-up non-stop. Your parents will also not love you, and you will be constantly be yelled at and made fun of. Everyone around you will flee and you will be left alone.

Drew: Yeah, I heard he got the Shawn Green Effect

Chris Hansen Effect

The effect on ne'er-do-wells caused by the presence of an apparent authority that is not law enforcement (e.g. Chris Hansen in Dateline: To Catch A Predator). The Effect usually causes the affected individual to spill their guts and make emotional pleas, or say "I'm just being stupid, I guess".

"I saw a man jerking off in his car as I was walking past, and I knocked on the window to warn him there were police hanging around. I guess I must've put the ol' Chris Hansen Effect on him, since as soon as he realized he had been caught, he began telling me about how shit his life is and how this was his first time."
