This is probably due to Hip-Hop culture becoming Mainstream culture and as did with rock and roll/ pop , punk was born as a rejection to that mainstream ideal. This is injunction with an internet run society that is inherently a dystopian world with utopian technology. Similar to “CyberPunk” but based more in reality.
