Cuffing Season

Usually the colder months; i.e. fall or winter, when new relationships start and old relationships turn into engagements. The persons in said relationships are "cuffed", meaning that they no longer seek non-platonic relationships with others.

1) I have lost count of the number of friends getting engaged. Cuffing season has begun.

2) "Are you single?" "Not for long. It's cuffing season."

season's greedings

In the Christmas/Holiday season, any greeting whose sole instrumental purpose is a financial transaction.

When an employee of a retail establishment greets a shopper in the fourth quarter of the fiscal year-- though in particular, beginning on Black Friday.

CLERK: "Season's Greedings, Ma'am."
SHOPPER: "Thanks, and Happy Holidays to you, too. Do you accept American Express?"

'Merry Christmas' and 'Happy Holidays' are the most common season's greedings.

silly season

A term for the period in the year where the media/press (particularly newspapers, tabloids) do not have enough articles to fill the paper/schedule, and so resort to unverifiable, trivial, irrelevant, stupid or hoax stories. Phrase used particularly in British satire.

When reading a newspaper: "'Buckingham Palace corridors are fitted with traffic lights to stop staff bumping into the Queen?' Must be silly season again."

sellotape

sellotape is a long sticky strip of material that you use to to attach things together such as paper, the end of your apple charger to make it not bend, and the mouths of your hostages. it is an extremely dangerous material, and it is not allowed to be used in most institutions. if they find out you've been using it they will stamp down on you, and they will punish you to ensure that the people don't gain any kind of power, as they want to keep you in your place so that they can keep theirs at the top. they want to stamp down on our freedom of creative expression, because they know, essentially, that we will expose them.

whoa there is that sellotape? be careful with that.
