When someone uses a needlessly complicated or esoteric word when a simpler word or expression would suffice.
A common occurence amongst neophyte academics who wish to impress peers.
Why did you say "lacuna" to just say that he had a "break" or "opening" in his schedule? That was a needless vocabularical bitch slap.

A person who tells you better, more complicated words you could have used in your previous sentence. Often a grammar nazi as well. Always annoying.
Person 1: "Dude, that was totally not needed!"

Person 2: "I think you should have said 'that was totally superfluous'."

Person 2: "Stop being such a vocabulary communist."

When you use incorrect grammar and are trying to cover your tracks claim you are using 'Vocabujazz'.

The term is 'coined' by Jim Richards from Newstalk 1010 CFRB in Toronto.
Him: I eat your cereal...
