The combination of taking a sip and taking swig of a beverage. Its just plain and simply an average amount of drink to be consumed in one action.

Kevin was at the baseball game and was getting teased for sipping his beer. Johnny told Kevin to man up and take a swig. Kevin being full from all the hot dogs could only manage to swip his beer.

A swip is a combination of taking a swig of a drink and a sip, resulting in an action somewhere in between.

You go to take a swig of your drink but only actually take a small amount of fluid.

You go to have a sip and instead swallow a large amount of fluid.

"Would you like to try my drink?"
"Okay, I'll just have a quick swip."
