The point of it all is the way luck determines everything in life (according to some) and nobody had a lucky day that day, not even the guy who made 34 cents, despite the false sense of optimism each party involved had when waking up that morning. Unless the penny pinching guy wanted to make an assassination look like a robbery, not much got accomplished.
