Get the Ismismmug. Ismism is the tendency to put a label on other people that is loaded with one's own prejudices and definitions, thereby attempting to limit others' perceptions of them.
If you can get an opponent to admit to being an ist, you've trapped that person into your definition of who they are.
An ism doesn't necessarily end in the letters -ism. For example, the word "woke" as as many meetings as there are people, in some countries and locations.
